Rowans announce their marriage


Caroline Rea Cowley and Regan Conor Rowan were married June 27, 2009, in Union Chapel in the Grove in Shelter Island, NY. The Rev. Timothy Wiggins officiated the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Kimberlea Shaw Rea of Westchester, NY, and Jack B. Cowley of Dallas, TX.

Her grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. James Rea of Crossville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Rowan of Bronxville, NY.

His grandparents are Ann and the late Walter Karkut of Abington, PA.

Wedding music was performed by Linda Betjeman.

The bride, escorted by her father, Jack B. Cowley, wore a haute couture white silk taffeta gown by New York City designer Larissa. It included fabric flowers cascading from one shoulder down to a bed of flowers on the train, which had a mixed French/American bustle and studded with iridescent crystals. Her veil featured iridescent crystals at fingertip hem.

The bride carried a bouquet of cloud pink ranunculus, peonies and roses with hints of baby lavender.

Kathryn Cowley James of Hilo, HI, served the bride as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Rea, cousin of the bride, of Baton Rouge, LA; Quinn Rowan, sister of the groom, of New York City, NY; Maggie Via of New York City, NY; Heather Lambirth of California; Bella Ornaf of Westchester, NY; and Susie DeMartini of California.

Flower girls were Jacey May Grand-Leinard, niece of the bride, and Anna Joseph, goddaughter of the groom.

The bride's attendants wore gowns of kelly green silk Ralph Lauren party dresses. They carried cloud pink ranunculus, bright pink peonies, lavender and roses.

The groom was attended by his brother Garret Rowan, Andrew Joseph, Ivor Joseph, Vincent Giangola, Matthew Glassman, Thomas Racciatti and Sudhir Nair.

Ushers were Jesse Diamond, Kristian Byrne, both friends of the groom, and Keith J. Clarke, friend of the bride.

The ring bearer was Jaden Grand-Lienard, nephew of the bride.

A wedding reception at 9 Bay Road in Shelter Island, NY, followed the ceremony. Servers were Troy Conrad and the staff of the Hamptons Clam Bake. Dinner and dancing also followed.

After a wedding trip to Shelter Island, NY, the couple are now at home in Bronxville, NY.
