The fundraiser for the new Peavine Care Center/Food Bank will begin on Nov. 2. Businesses along the Peavine Corridor will have containers for your monetary donations throughout the month. This gives our friends and neighbors an opportunity to help to feed those in need. Along with cash boxes we will have food collection boxes at local banks. Preferred foods would be 15 oz. cans of fruits and vegetables.
As a part of the fall fundraising effort during the first week of November volunteers at the Village Green Mall will have informational flyers, monetary donation containers, and a food collection box. Jeanne Fitzgerald from the Brownstone Day Spa will be giving mini massages to raise funds. Also, volunteers will be selling bridge score pads and magnet note pads featuring a view of the Glade.
The Peavine Care Center operating at 3034 Peavine Road is a free food pantry. It was opened in late July 2009 to serve people who are in need in the Peavine Corridor area. Volunteers currently serve an average of 43 families a week. The Peavine Care Center is a collaborative effort of the Fairfield Glade Council of Churches and Helping Hands Ministry. Information about the PCC, volunteering or donations may be obtained by calling Mike Wilkiel at 707-8040.
