The Bon Air Mountain Historical Society cordially invites everyone to attend a grand opening event of the one-of-a-kind Railroad Section House Museum, set Nov. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Step back in time and let your imagination wander through life in a 1900-era railroad section house. Take a peek at how it may have been to exist within the coal mining towns of Bon Air, DeRossett, Eastland, Clifty and Ravenscroft. Also, visit the unusual grave on the premises and learn the heart-rending story. There will be Bon Air Historical Society Members on hand to answer your questions.
Admission is free, and enjoy hot apple cider and cookies while meeting other members of the community. There will be door prizes and one Historical Society member will win a special prize valued at $100, made possible by a donation from Jim Hayes.
Anyone who becomes a new member the day of the event will be given a free T-shirt and copy of "Rich Past of the Mountain" magazine. Special membership is available to children.
From Crossville, take Hwy. 70 W about 16 miles. The museum is on the right side of the highway at the corner of Coal Bank Road.
