It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas... even the weather, at least at press time, is cooperating with cold temperatures and even a slight chance of the white stuff just in time for this weekend's annual Christmas parade. The big event is slated for Saturday afternoon in downtown Crossville and will feature "Holiday Magic" as the theme. The parade is scheduled to step off at 4:30 from CCHS and will make its annual trek up Main Street. The 278th unit of the Army National Guard will be the grand marshals of the parade as they are treated to a proper send-off. The unit will be deployed for training on Sunday and will leave for Iraq in February.
Miss Teen USA Stormi Henley, who was in town to celebrate Thanksgiving with dad Skip, mom Sissi and sister Darbi, is also expected to be here on Saturday and participate in the parade. Miss Henley is attending college in the Big Apple after winning the national pageant this summer.
Prior to the parade there will be lots of activities in the downtown area including a book signing at Three Stones (the little yellow house behind the courthouse) where children's author Beth Smithem will autograph copies of her book, "The Misadventures of Dust Bunny." She will be signing her books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Also on parade day is the Christmas Holiday Fair at First United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with lots of vendors and free food. Downtown music will begin on the stage at 3:30 p.m.
