Let ‘Winter Spirits’ dishes warm your heart on Jan. 28

If you’re not going south for the winter, we have something here in Crossville that will warm the cockles of your heart. Pick up a couple of tickets to “Winter Spirits,” a dinner at Forte’s on the Square in Crossville sponsored by First Tennessee Investors on Peavine Road. “Winter Spirits” features a special menu prepared by Forte’s chefs to include a warming “spirit” in every dish.

The evening begins early with cheese and crackers served from the bar and real eggnog with rum. Take time to visit with other guests, then find your table for the first course, penne pasta a la vodka.

Your fish course will be grilled salmon with a tequila lime beurre blanc sauce on the side, plated with mesclun salad with a Champagne Green Goddess dressing.

Your second entrée will be filet mignon au poivre, featuring a brandy peppercorn sauce, and served with baby stuffed baked potatoes.

Save room for dessert, a scrumptious Black Forest torte with Kirschwasser liqueur. Forte’s bar will be open all evening for your enjoyment. Forte’s liquor distributor will also be on hand to give you some background on the “spirits” you will be tasting in your food. Most of the alcohol evaporates during cooking, but some remains, plus the distinctive flavor of each beverage.

As a parting gift to each guest, Forte’s chefs will provide recipes for each dish to be tried at home. Just take the recipe to one of our local wine and liquor shops, and they will help you get just the right “spirit” for your dish.

The event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 beginning at 4 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person, but if you hurry you can get in on the “Early Bird” pricing of $48 per person until Jan. 2. Better yet, get together some friends and fill a table of eight for only $360 or $45 per person. Tables of eight available only while they last.

To get your tickets to this very special evening send a check to Crossville Arts Council, 99 Municipal Avenue, Crossville, TN 38555. Must be postmarked by Jan. 2 to qualify for “Early Bird" pricing.

Tickets will be mailed after Jan. 2. Call Judy Pearson at 484-8234 for more information. This event helps fund arts projects of the Crossville Arts Council. Forte’s on the Square and First Tennessee Investors are among CAC's "Partners in Art," supporting the arts in Cumberland County.
