Ashburns mark 50th anniversary Sept. 20
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ashburn will celebrate their 50th anniversary Sept. 20 at Midway Freewill Baptist Church on Hwy. 62 West from 2-6 p.m.
The couple have four children, Brenda Wyatt, Debra Craig, Linda Jackson and James Ashburn; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts. Just come and fellowship. All relatives and friends of the couple are invited.

Competition grillers go whole hog

PLATEAU GARDENING: Japanese beetles can cause major damage to gardens this time of year
The Japanese beetle population typically fluctuates somewhat from year to year. Members attending the July Cumberland County Master Gardener meeting were asked whether the number of Japanese beetles sighted around Crossville in 2010 was more or less than seen last year. Those attending thought there were fewer this year.
