USO Show returns to Crossville Nov. 8

By Leila Carley / Chronicle contributor

The USO Show is back by popular demand. Produced by the Crab-Orchard Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, the show is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Palace Theatre on Main Street in downtown Crossville. Because of the popularity of this event, two shows are scheduled this year — a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $8 each and may be purchased in advance at the Palace Theatre. Ticket sales will begin October 1. Please note that, unlike previous years, tickets will be for reserved seats so you will want to purchase your tickets early to get the best seating.

The extra performance should give everyone a chance to enjoy the entertainment with a spectacular line-up of performers, including President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Dr. Stanley Bise), Eleanor Roosevelt (Patty Payne), Winston Churchill (Walter Lee), Mae West (Teresa Wilson), the Andrews Sisters (the Susie Pew dancers), and many other famous entertainers and personalities from the WWII era.

Once again, all veterans living in Cumberland County are invited to submit copies of their service photos for use in the USO canteen area. The photos will be laminated to be preserved for future shows. Please drop off your pictures at the Art Circle Public Library located at 154 E. First Street. Please provide name(s) of people in photos, approximate date and location where it was taken as well as your name and telephone

number. After the USO Show, the photos will be returned to the library for you to pick up. If you prefer you may make copies and leave them for us.
