Cookeville Regional opening clinic in Fairfield Glade

CROSSVILLE — Cookeville Regional Medical Center is opening a primary and specialty care clinic near Fairfield Glade, in the Fairfield Towne Center, and will be seeing patients as of July 2.

Cookeville Regional’s Fairfield Glade Clinic will be staffed daily, Monday through Friday, with a nurse practitioner to care for minor illnesses and injuries for patients over 18 years of age. In addition, specialty physicians from Cookeville Regional Medical Center will travel to the clinic each week and patients will have the convenience of seeing them in the Fairfield Glade area instead of going to Cookeville for every visit. Specialists going to the clinic will include: cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons, a pulmonary medicine specialist, gastroenterologist, and a general/vascular surgeon along with other specialists in the future.

Establishing clinics in outlying areas surrounding Cookeville is a natural expansion for Cookeville Regional Medical Center. “As a regional referral medical center, it is important for our hospital to expand its services to other communities,” said Dr. Menachem Langer, CEO of Cookeville Regional. “Community outreach is important to us and we are pleased to offer this service to the people of Fairfield Glade as well as others in the surrounding area.”

A grand opening is scheduled for the public on Thursday, July 12, from 3-4:30 p.m., with light refreshments and giveaways.

To schedule an appointment with the clinic or for more information, call 484-3050. Walk-ins are welcome for primary care visits. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FFG Board signs contract to reduce goose population for health concerns
A solution to the over population of Canada geese in Fairfield Glade is being addressed by Fairfield Glade Board of Directors. The board signed a contract with USDA Wildlife Services to remedy the health concerns caused by the large number of geese that have made their home in the resort. A presentation at the Community Center conducted by District Supervisor Keith Blanton, USDA Wildlife Services, provided the FFG Board and members an overview of the health problems due to goose droppings and methods to get the problem under control. TVA and TWRA established Canada geese flocks in Tennessee in the 1960s and 1970s. Hunters take about 20,000 geese per year during the hunting season.

Fairfield Glade hosts Bucky Cantrell Tennis and Pickleball Classic
This past weekend the Racquet Sports Committee and William Taylor, the Racquet Sports Manager, hosted the largest number of players to enter our newly combined classic tournament. This was the first year for Pickleball and combined with the USTA sanctioned tennis tournament there were 84 participants.

The luncheon to induct the new members was held on Saturday, April 20 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro.

Students of the Month honored at Lions Club meeting
The first May meeting was reserved by the Fairfield Glade Lions Club to honor this year’s “Students of the Month” and their families. Nine of the 10 students were able to attend. Dakota Tillman, from The Phoenix School, was unable to attend because of prior commitments. Dakota was selected and honored for the month of April.
