In response to a special request from Tennessee’s First Lady Crissy Haslam, popular artist and Fairfield Glade resident Linda Farber has created a special holiday ornament that represents Cumberland County.
Governor Haslam and the First Lady are proud to promote every corner of our state, so this year, First Lady Crissy Haslam decided to decorate the official Tennessee Residence in Nashville with ornaments that symbolize each county in Tennessee.
The First Lady reached out to Cumberland County Mayor Carey, who suggested Linda Farber’s name as a local artist to create the Cumberland County ornament. Those who have attended Linda Farber’s art classes, viewed her designer jewelry creations, and enjoyed her paintings know that Linda is the perfect choice to design and create such a meaningful one-of-a-kind ornament.
The First Lady sent the tree ornament to Linda, giving her the freedom to decorate it however she wished while highlighting at least one unique feature of Cumberland County. Linda chose to depict a snowy landscape that includes the Homestead Tower and Museum, the Cumberland Mountain State Park Bridge, and other historical buildings in Cumberland County.
Ornament artists from every county in the state recently visited the official Tennessee Residence, which is the Governor’s residence in Nashville. At this special event, Linda was delighted to meet First Lady Crissy Haslam, who thanked all of the artists for their unique contributions. Linda also enjoyed seeing her ornament hanging on the tree in the main foyer of the residence.
All of the county ornaments will remain permanently at the Tennessee Residence. Next year, Governor Haslam plans to use them in his office. In following years, they will be displayed annually at the Tennessee Residence. Linda Farber was honored to be chosen to create the ornament that represents Cumberland County, which she is proud to call home.

Newest engine responds to its first structure fire
The Fairfield Glade Fire Department received a call of a structure fire Wednesday night around 10:20 p.m. from central 911 Dispatch. The fire was called in by a resident who saw a mobile single wide home fully involved with flames coming out of every window the structure.
