RHA’s 40th year kicks off with Brian and Amanda Bacon on Jan. 28

CROSSVILLE — A great evening lay ahead for RHA members at the opening of “Bel Canto to Broadway” show at The Legends on  Monday, Jan. 28 starting at 6 p.m. Local favorites Brian and Amanda Bacon have a great program prepared for all attendees, opening a wonderful year of entertainment for the Fairfield Glade Resident Homeowners Association’s 40th year, headed by Dennis Donald of DSquared Productions. RHA members and guests enjoy a social hour from 5-6 p.m.

Brian is heavily involved in the community and has developed quite a following. In turn, Amanda is a local native and highly recognized for her choral attributes.

Reservation deadline is Thursday, Jan. 24. To make your reservations call Ted or Barbara Lavaque at 459-2359, or email to lavaque@frontiernet.net

Cost of meals is $17 per person which includes tip and tax, and annual dues are $12, all payable at the door. You can also remit to PO Box 2017, Fairfield Glade, TN 38558. Entrée for Jan. 28  is parmesan crusted tilapia, garlic red smashed potatoes, a vegetable medley, salad and dessert.

Note that we are particularly eager to invite new residents or those who have never attended an RHA meeting to visit and see if this would be a good way to spend 10 evenings during the year. It is open to all residents of Fairfield Glade. RHA meets the fourth Monday of each month, except for May and December. If you have never attended an RHA meeting you do not have to join at this first meeting, but can do so at the next meeting on Feb. 25.

A Heart Smart meal is also available for those who wish to keep their diet in balance for the start of the year. You can also make up your own table of six or eight, or you can designate people you would like to sit with.

Future programs will include: Terri Utsey, Rockwood, who has built quite a reputation in the music world in Cumberland County; Terry Henderson from Lima, Ohio, another who needs no introduction to the area; Patrice Puglise who began her career in 1971 as a performer with the Country Gems in Texas; Keith Walther, publisher and editor of the Glade Vista, a surprise performer who you will greatly enjoy; Taylor Ware, a 17 year-old from Brentwood who will be returning for the third time; Jason Sanders, a new find, a talented musician/singer/songwriter from Carthage; and Aaron Wilbourn, musician/singer/songwriter, who formerly traveled with the Gaithers, plus two to be added. Where else can you go to get all this for just $12?

We will look for you on Jan. 28!  You will not be disappointed!

  • FFG Board signs contract to reduce goose population for health concerns

A solution to the over population of Canada geese in Fairfield Glade is being addressed by Fairfield Glade Board of Directors. The board signed a contract with USDA Wildlife Services to remedy the health concerns caused by the large number of geese that have made their home in the resort. A presentation at the Community Center conducted by District Supervisor Keith Blanton, USDA Wildlife Services, provided the FFG Board and members an overview of the health problems due to goose droppings and methods to get the problem under control. TVA and TWRA established Canada geese flocks in Tennessee in the 1960s and 1970s. Hunters take about 20,000 geese per year during the hunting season.
