The “Chicks with Sticks” celebrated the 2009 Golf Season with a ‘half round’ of golf (nine holes) and an “Awards Luncheon” that rivaled all those over the past several years! What a great time!
The nine-hole round of golf at Dorchester started the day with winners galore! This team competition was spirited to say the least and the winners in the first four places were separated by only one stroke! Talk about your tough competition! First place winners were Dale McCunn, Phyllis Molnar, Peggy Truxton with one birdie and Susan Spencer. In second place (after a scorecard play-off) was the team of Sharon Ellis, Nancy Pierce with one birdie, Cathleen Purdie and Judy Wicinski. The third place team of Kay Davis, Connie Fusco, Katy Stephens and Karen Toomey beat out the fourth place team of Karen Hein, Fran Kinnunen, Jackie Korte and Jan Kilar again with a scorecard play-off. Congratulations to all of the winners.
Playing nine holes of golf on a beautiful sunny morning at Dorchester was a great start to the day, but the “Chicks” then headed out to the Westchester Room at Druid Hills to begin the true celebration. While there the gals celebrated the birthdays of Jackie Korte and Karen Toomey, feasted on Jerry’s great food and Linda’s wonderful service, reminisced about this season’s highs and lows and in-betweens and congratulated all of the winners . . . with photos included.
Speaking of winners . . . Susan Spencer walked away with two awards for this season, the “I love golf” award for playing the most rounds of golf with the “Chicks” and the “Most Chip-ins”. Peggy Truxton with twenty-five birdies walked away from the competition of Connie Fusco with sixteen and Chris Kencitzski with thirteen. Eagles were a rare commodity this season, but three “Chicks” found this elusive prize: Jean Roise with two and Katy Stephens and Peggy Truxton with one each. And finally, our most improved players this season were . . . “Drum Roll, Please” . . . Michele Simcox and Connie Fusco. These ladies improved their handicap index with a combined score of 12.4. Now that shows a bunch of hard, hard work and dedication to improving the game.
Congratulations to all of the Winners. Now, rest, relax, hone all of those great golf shots and be ready for the 2010 season of the “Chicks with Sticks”. What a great group of Ladies! For the last article of the year, all I can say is, “Thank you for all of your help and support and golf lessons!”
