Three new Tai Chi classes are offered for Fairfield Glade beginners, Time share visitors, and Crossville area residents.
For beginners at the CMC Welness Complex, Fairfield Glade:
Tai Chi instructor Cherry Landrus is offering a new class for individuals interested in learning the beginning aspects of the ancient Chinese system of meditative exercises, characterized by slow and stylized movements. The class will be at the Cumberland Medical Wellness Complex at Fairfield Glade, 130 Stonehenge Drive. The class is free and will be at 4 p.m. Mondays in the aerobics room of the facility. Beginners may attend until Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2010. It will be closed to newcomers after that date, because class members will have progressed too far for newcomers to catch up, according to Mrs. Landrus.
Tai Chi Class for Timeshare Visitors, At Wellness Complex:
Timeshare visitors to Fairfield Glade and individuals who want a one-time experience with Tai Chi are invited to learn about the ancient Chinese art at noon on Tuesdays in the conference room at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Fairfield Glade, 130 Stonehenge Dr. Drew Landrus, a master Tai Chi instructor, will teach the basic system of meditative exercises, characterized by slow and stylized movements.
Tai Chi classes in Crossville start Nov. 12:
A new class in the ancient Chinese art of Tai Chi is being offered for Crossville area residents at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Crossville. The class will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Nov. 12 in the aerobics room. The complex is located at 130 Woodmere Mall, Highway 127, Crossville. Drew Landrus, a master Tai Chi instructor, will teach the system of meditative exercises, characterized by slow and stylized movements.
Drew was in the U.S. military for 20 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was in Special Forces, as well as the Army space program. He worked an additional 13 years in the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office. He is a master in Tai Chi, a ninth degree black belt in Kenpo, and a third degree black belt in Escrima.
Cherry, a former professional high fashion model in Washington, D.C., is the mother of two daughters.
Together, the couple operates the Crab Orchard Care Center, which is open on Wednesdays to help persons in need in the Crab Orchard area.
