Marsha Radtke’s quilt, The Pastor’s Attic received an Honorable Mention at the recent American Quilter’s Society 24th Annual Quilt Show and Contest (April 23–26) in Paducah, KY. The Pastor’s Attic is a replication of a Baltimore Album Quilt from the 1850s. A book featuring this quilt is scheduled to be published in the spring of 2009.

‘Catfish’ passes
Cumberland County Commissioner Clyde "Catfish" Cramer passed away Tuesday night. He had represented the Ninth District on the commission since 2005.

Going forward with a plan — becoming a reality for Fairfield Glade
On May 9, about 225 Fairfield Glade residents were given an overview of the process that will be used to create a professional Master Plan for the community. The presentation was scheduled by the FGCC Board of Directors and hosted by President Bob Stackhouse, with the assistance of General Manager Bob Weber.

Habitat’s ‘Women Build’ house is in full hammer swing
Saturday morning dawned with cloudy skies and rain, but it wasn't enough to send a group of women running for cover. The 33 participants in the second Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity Women Build went to work.

Blood drive achieved 85 percent of goal
The Fairfield Glade Blood Drive was held Friday, May 4, at the FFG United Methodist Church. The goal was to obtain 74 productive units. 85 percent of the goal, with 63 units, was achieved. This resulted in approximately 189 saved lives!

Special FFG Lions dinner honors 'Students of the Month'
The Fairfield Glade Lions Club held their special annual dinner to honor the 2011-2012 Students of the Month on May 7. Three students, Elizabethe Smith, Dimi Iles and Jared South, had prior commitments so only seven were able to attend.

Stone Memorial High School hosted the Region 2, District 4 A/AA Tennis Tournament Monday and Tuesday May 7-8, with Tori Harris and Dylan Nelson qualifying for the Region 2 A/AA May 14.
