Guest speaker at December HOPE Meeting

CROSSVILLE — The FFG cancer support group, HOPE (Hope for Oncology Patients and Encouragement) invites you to join them on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m., at the Community Church, 521 Snead Drive, Fairfield Glade, to hear guest speaker, Jordan Johnson, director of the Cumberland Medical Center Regional Cancer Center.

Johnson, who graduated magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2007, with a Baccalaureate degree in Radiologic Technology, then earned a second Baccalaureate degree in radiation therapy from the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson in 2008. He completed his Master's degree in May 2012 from the University of St. Francis...with a 4.0 grade average...this is one smart fellow!

He has had hands-on experience in diagnostic imaging, CT and MRI's, including being a staff radiation therapist at Duke University Hospital, and is active in numerous radiation therapy organizations.

Everyone of us has or will experience the effects of cancer involving friends, neighbors, co-workers, distant or close relatives or even ourselves. It is comforting to know the newly enhanced Regional Cancer Center at CMC is headed by someone of Mr. Johnson's caliber.  We encourage everyone to join us on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. to hear him share his knowledge and the future plans for the CMC Regional Cancer Center.

The HOPE cancer support group meets the third Thursday of each month at the Community Church, 521 Snead Drive, FFG, TN and welcomes anyone who is dealing with cancer, is a cancer survivor or caregiver or concerned family member or friend, or is just interested in knowing more about the cancer support available in our area. Any questions? Call Bob Vickers, 456-6995; Gretchen Harvell, 484-4464; or Roberta Wascher, 484-6633.
