"Third Time's a Charm" Golf Tournament winners


Congratulations go out to all participants in the Sept. 10 "Third Time's a Charm" Golf Tournament, hosted by the Lake Tansi Ladies Golf Association. The four-person scramble attracted 120 women from  Middle and East Tennessee. 

Winners were:

First Flight

First place: team of Ann Looney, Sharon Kington, Heather Soly and Joanna Whitmill, score 58

Second place: team of Evelyn Williams, Carol Massey, Norma Knauss and Vickey Davis, score 58

Third place: team of Diana Withers, Glenda Davis, Sue Wyatt and Pat Howell, score of 59

Second Flight

First: team of Paula Morton, Cheryl Hibbett, Susan Norton and Gene Deere, with 64

Second: team of Sharon Ellis, Susan Spencer, Cathleen Purdie and Kay Davis, with 64

Third: team of Carolyn Whittenburg, Tina Johnson, Daphene Richardson and Jennifer Wheeler, with 64 (all score card playoffs)

Third Flight

First: team of Joan Slatton, Vickie Griffith, Meiko Honda and Angie Wilhite, with score of 69

Second: team of Betty Allen, Gina Maxwell, Barbara Shemwell and Carline Henry, with 69

Third: team of Bonnie Good, Jean Saal, Lori Letourneau and Mitzie Anderson, with 69 (all scorecard playoffs)

Fourth Flight

First: Louise Littleton, Kathy Luttrell, Pat Guilliam and Marie Guinn, with a 72

Second: Sandra Cannon, Grace Ferguson, Aven Fleming and Gladys Butler, with a 73

Third: Jo Jones, Karen McCall, Della Marshall and Betty Walker, with a score of 74

There were 12 special prizes awarded to individuals participating in the tournament. Eleven of these were silver charm bracelets with a golf charm caring out the theme of the tournament. Some of these went to longest drive winners. The winners were Angie Whilhite, Jennifer Wheeler and Joanna Herman. Sue Wyatt won for closest to the pin on hole #6 and Karen McCall for hole #12. Agnes Garrett won a bracelet for being the closest to the pin on her second shot on hole #7 by putting it in the hole from the fairway.

Jerry Phillips of JP Jewelry and Repair provided the most coveted prize of a beautiful diamond ring by being closest to the pin on hole #3 to Lake Tansi resident, Lori Letourneau.

Breakfast was provided by the ladies of the 9-hole and 18-hole leagues of Lake Tansi and a wonderful luncheon was served at Mitch's Restaurant in Lake Tansi. Tournament sponsors included Cumberland County Bank, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas, Kroger's, Wal-Mart, First National Bank and First Bank.

The women of the Lake Tansi Ladies Golf Association appreciate all participants and sponsors for making this a fun day for all.
