Mullinax Pan Fish Classic

By Denver Hogston / Signals contributor

On Saturday, Aug. 22, the Mullinax Pan Fish Classic was held on Lake Tansi. The tournament was also a fundraiser for the Pan Fish Club fish restock program. The club collected $141 to pay for fish to restock the lake. Thanks to all who made a donation. Mullinax Marine did a great job with the door prizes and prize money. The Tansi Club received a big thank you for hosting the event.

First place honors went to Shawn Kipper and Greg Franklin, who received $100 in prize money. Shawn Kipper also won the custom rod built by Doug Hoskins and donated by Mullinax Marine. The rod was worth $85. Shawn had a good day on this one. He had a catch of 6 lb. 5 oz. The second-place team was Denver Hogston and Denny Wunder, with a good catch of 5 lbs. 14 oz. They received $75 in prize money. Denver also won the drawing for the Boatmate Anchor system worth 4129. His uncle, Wendell Hunt, drew the winning ticket. (We thought maybe that was a little "fishy." Just kidding!) The third-place team was Glen and Ruth McCoy with 5 lbs. 1 oz. and they received $50 in prize money. Glen and Ruth were just happy to beat Glen's brother, Marty. We all know how brothers can be. Fourth-place team was Don Davis and Red Morrow, who received $25 for their catch of 5 lbs. Good job, Don and Red. Don said that it was about time he got something. It's been a long dry spell. Another door prize went to Wilson Tanksley to winterize his boat.

I would like to again say thank you to Mullinax Marine owners Jimmy Baldwin and Jacob Franklin for sponsoring the tournament. They are a good bunch of guys that have a great place to have your boat serviced. Stop in, check them out, and say hello. Well, that's it until the next time. As always, fish hard, have fun, and obey the laws of the water. They are for your safety.
