“We are fortunate to have the Lake Tansi Exchange Club playing a leadership role in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. Cumberland County has one of the most effective Imagination Library program in the state of Tennessee, ” voiced County Mayor Brock Hill to members of Lake Tansi Exchange Club Friday, March 20, during their regular monthly meeting.
Mayor Hill continued, “The Imagination Library reading and literacy program is a perfect match for the Exchange Club mission. Club members assisted in the establishment of the program in Cumberland County.”
Larry and Jan Robertson as well as other members spent countless hours creating the original mailing list of eligible children (birth to five years old) and assisting with fundraising efforts. The Robertsons maintain the mailing list with its many changes each month.
“Lake Tansi Exchange Club’s $1,800 donation will provide May’s books to over 1,500 Cumberland County children, from birth through age four. This is very appropriate since May of 2005 was the very first month for our program in Cumberland County. The teachers in our school system attest to the positive changes they see in children now entering the school system,” stated Mayor Hill.
