The Lake Tansi Exchange Club will have their 22nd annual chicken barbecue sale on Saturday, July 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Thunderbird parking lot in Lake Tansi.
Dinners will include a half chicken, cole slaw, and baked beans, for $7. Half chicken only is $5. Pre-orders receive a 50-cent discount; order by calling 788-6721.
Proceeds will go to the Lake Tansi Exchange Club to provide financial assistance to organizations in the county dealing with the prevention of child abuse, most notably, the Stephens Center. They also support Boy Scouts, schools, Kids on the Rise, and the United Fund. To make a tax-deductible donation, mail a check to Lake Tansi Exchange Club, P.O. Box 58, Crossville, TN 38557.

On the morning of Dec. 7, an aircraft bearing the red symbol of the Rising Sun of Japan appeared out of the clouds above Hawaii. More than 300 other Japanese warplanes followed it with plans to descend on the Pearl Harbor Naval Yard, where a young private named James Allen Seals was stationed.
