Cumberland County sheriff's investigators and looking into two incidents last week to determine whether shots fired into parked vehicles were random acts or if the victims were targeted.
The incidents — which occured 30 minutes apart and just a few miles away — happened just before dawn on March 1, according to Sgt. Butch LeFebvre's report.
The first complaint came from a resident in the 800 block of Tuttle Lane off Peavine Rd. around 5:30 a.m. when someone fired a shotgun blast into the side of a minivan parked in front of a residence. Shots also hit the residence, which was occupied.
The resident provided investigators with the name of a suspect and said he experienced an early incident during which tires on his vehicle were slashed.
The second incident occurred around 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Cherry Branch Rd. It appeared buckshot had been fired with 14 to 15 marks on the vehicle.
A dark-colored vehicle was spotted leaving the scene.
Investigator Bo Kollros was called to the scene and investigation is continuing.
