Police called to a local apartment to investigate the theft of clothing instead recovered items stolen in the burglary of a restaurant's storage building.

Charged with burglary is Corey A. McDaniel, 22, 1045 Sparta Hwy., Apt. 202.

On Jan. 16 police were dispatched to a Sparta Dr. apartment to investigate the theft of clothing on a complaint filed by Lindsey Fitzgerald. Also present was Rhonda McDaniel and Nikki Lewis.

Ptl. Mark Steinmann responded to the complaint to take the initial report and while talking with the victim, the officer noticed a restaurant-style case of JFG coffee on the kitchen floor, "that looked to be out of place."

When Steinmann finished his report, the officer consulted with Sgt. Chris Kendrick and learned of a burglary at Family Ties Restaurant during which two cases of coffee and two cases of potato chips were among the items missing.

The resulting investigation led authorities to take into custody Corey A. McDaniel, who provided investigators with conflicting statements that led to his arrest for burglary of a storage building at the restaurant.
