A rural Cumberland County man and his wife were unhurt recently when someone attempted to break into their residence while the couple were at home.
The incident took place Jan. 17 around 5:30 a.m. at a residence on Mayland Loop. A man in the residence heard someone on a back porch, trying to gain entry to the home.
The man yelled for his wife to dial 911 and shouted through the door that if someone came in the door, he had a gun and he would shoot them.
The burglar continued to shake and twist the door knob but fled on foot before Sgt. James Scott and other officers arrived on the scene.
Investigation is continuing.
