CROSSVILLE —
Investigation into the deliberate setting on fire of an occupied home last week remains under investigation and authorities are trying to determine whether there is a link between the arson and an ongoing custody dispute.
The incident occurred at 245 Elizabeth St. in Crab Orchard around 12:39 a.m. at the home shared by Lisa Romines, Christian Romines and a juvenile daughter of Lisa Romines, according to Deputy Gary Green's report.
Lisa Romines told investigators she was awakened from her sleep by noises coming from outside and at first thought the source to be high winds. Moments later she heard a car door shut and got up to investigate. She found fire on one end of her home.
Christian Romines was awakened and was able to put the fire out, but told investigators that he observed a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
Lisa Romines said she had received threats related to an on-going child custody dispute, but was uncertain whether the fire was related to the legal process.
Sheriff's Arson Investigator Scott Griffin responded to the scene and it was reported that gasoline had been poured on the siding and set on fire. Deputies observed a strong odor of gas lingering around the outside of the home as they investigated.
No arrests have been made and the probe is continuing.

Acting on an anonymous telephone tip, Cumberland County sheriff’s investigators have recovered thousands in stolen property and are now being joined by state investigators who are trying to determine if an interstate theft ring is involved. No arrests have been made as the probe continues.
