CROSSVILLE —
A Cumberland County man, who last December was in Criminal Court pleading guilty to a meth charge, was back in court on Sept. 21 pleading an information charging a new meth-related charge. He received a new five-year prison sentence.
Roy Lynn Headrick, 42, Old Gordon Rd., was on two-year probation after he pleaded guilty in December 2011 to promotion of the manufacture of meth and theft of more than $1,000. At the time he served 60 days in jail with the remainder on probation.
In August of this year, Headrick was arrested on a charge of initiation of the process to manufacture meth, following a sheriff's department investigation.
In the information, Headrick pleaded guilty to attempt to initiate the process to make meth. His five-year prison sentence is to be served concurrently with the two-years being served on the probation violation.
In other cases on the docket, the following guilty pleas were entered:
•Logan M. Kennedy, 22, two counts of aggravated burglary and theft of less than $500, pleaded guilty to all charges and received a total of four years in prison, suspended to probation and release into the Teen Challenge program which must be completed. If not, Kennedy will be required to serve his sentence. He is to pay $541 restitution with a restraining order against contact with the victims.
•Levi Adam Miller, 24, charged with introducing contraband into a penal institution, pleaded guilty to the charge and received a three-year suspended sentence with all but 90 days suspended. Upon completion of the 90 days, Miller will serve the balance of the three years on probation.
•Christopher Lee Susong, 34, charged with burglary, theft of more than $10,000 and theft of more than $1,000, pleaded guilty to all three charges and received a total of three years in prison, to be served consecutive to sentence to be served from General Sessions Court. He is to pay restitution if there is any.
•Nelson Luis Ortiz, 24, charged with manufacture of more than 30 marijuana plants and possession of more than one-half ounce of marijuana for sale and for delivery, pleaded guilty to sell of marijuana and received a two-year suspended prison sentence to be served on supervised probation, and was fined $2,000 and court costs. The sentence is to be served concurrently with probation violation sentence being served.
•Jeffery Dodson, 24, pleaded guilty to an information charging evading arrest and received a two-year prison sentence to serve.
•Christopher Lee Moore, 38, pleaded guilty to an information charging felony evading arrest and received a two-year suspended sentence with 90 days to serve in jail and the remainder on probation. Moore must also pay court costs and restitution.
•Amanda Jo Garrett, pleaded guilty to an information charging passing a forged instrument and theft of less than $500 and received a two-year suspended sentence to be served on probation with condition being she attend in-patient rehab.

City reverses decision limiting interim manager power
Meeting in special called session Friday, the Crossville City Council reversed a unanimous decision from earlier in the week concerning the interim city manager and more than one council members seemed to have admitted to violating the sunshine law.

Record rainfall floods county
A record rainfall event Sunday flooded city streets and county roads and sent water flowing into some businesses and some homes in Crossville. There were also several reports of houses being struck by lightning in the city and the county. There were no injuries reported in Cumberland County.

Memorial Day ceremony planned
The Cumberland County Veterans Council will sponsor a Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Cumberland County Memorial Veterans Park across the street from the Cumberland County Courthouse. The Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. There will be a guest singer and special guest speakers during the event.

Crossville dog park moving along
The City of Crossville Dog Park at the back of Centennial Park is moving ahead. Some grading has been done in preparation for the installation of the fencing. A water line will be brought over to the park from the restrooms in the nearby picnic area, making it easier for owners to provide fresh water for their pets while they are exercising in the park.

County attorney to send violation letter to bank regarding Guiness Rd. property
Cumberland County attorney Randal Boston was requested by the Health and Safety Standards Board to send a letter of violation and cleanup to Bank of America in regard to an abandoned, dilapidated property in the Breckenridge neighborhood.

Tap Publishing hit by electrical fire
Officials at TAP Publishing on Fourth St. worked feverishly to return to their business to normal after an electrical fire caused hundreds of thousands in damage to the building and multitude of complex computer systems, and interrupted the daily operation of the publishing company.

Indictments handed down in Selby slaying
One Crossville area man was indicted for the beating death of a local woman, while an acquaintance of the suspect was indicted for being an accessory to the crime, according to court records.

County discusses non-profit funding contracts
The Cumberland County Budget Committee reviewed contract agreements for funding of local non-profit agencies Tuesday evening and approved several.

Suit seeks to force sewer connection
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has filed a lawsuit against the owner of an apartment complex in Lake Tansi Village alleging failure of a subsurface sewage disposal system and seeking to force connection of the apartments to the available Tansi Sewer Utility District sewer service.
