Passenger charged with possessing meth materials
The passenger in a vehicle being driven erratically that caused police to conduct a traffic stop was arrested for possessing items commonly used in the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine, according to reports.
Hershel David Sanders, 28, 105 Old Pomona Rd., is charged with a single count of promotion of methamphetamine with bond set at $10,000. He is to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on Jan. 25.
Cpl. Jason Elmore wrote in his arrest report that he stopped a silver Camaro traveling west on Hwy. 70 W at Sparta Dr. after the driver had driven the car left of the center line.
K-9 Deputy Kevin Phillips arrived on the scene and deployed his narcotics detection dog around the vehicle, with the dog alerting as to the presence of drugs inside.
The resulting search of the car yielded deputies a 24-count box of Sudafed, a set of digital scales, a grocery bag containing two bottles of Heet and another grocery bag containing ten unopened boxes of matches, with each box containing 50 books of matches.
According to the arrest report, Sanders claimed ownership of all the items found in the vehicle, which led to his being charged.

Crash on Chestnut Hill Rd. claims life of county man
