CROSSVILLE —
A Cumberland County man believed to be involved in at least two vehicle burglaries in the parking lot of a busy Main St. business has been arrested, according to sheriff's department records.
Kenneth Doyle Phillips, 35, 13245 Hwy. 70 N, is charged with two counts of auto burglary and two counts of theft of less than $500, according to Deputy Ron Moore's report. Warrants against Phillips were signed by Crossville Police Maj. Terry White.
According to arrest affidavits, Phillips is accused of breaking into a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup and stealing a CD player, and with breaking into a 1995 Mercury Mystique owne by Yolanda Giward and with sealing a CD player from that vehicle. Both incidents occurred at Walmart on July 6.
Phillips is to appear in General Sessions Court on Aug. 20. Bond was set at $8,000.

The Cumberland County Board of Education is questioning if that policy needs to make a distinction between space available without portable classrooms.
