Pair charged with auto burglary at Cracker Barrel
A Lake Tansi pair have been arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of a vehicle in the Cracker Barrel parking lot by Crossville Police, according to reports. The city has recently been hit with a rash of vehicle break-ins.
Darren A. Cox, 27, 159 Iron Horse Dr., is charged with theft from a vehicle, simple possession of hydrocodone and vandalism.
Kristina Y. Miller, 31, same address, is charged with theft from a vehicle, simple possession of hydrocodone and no driver's license.
City police Friday around 10 p.m. were dispatched to Cracker Barrel on a report of vandalism being done on a vehicle in the parking lot. When officers arrived they found a Clifty Rd. resident's vehicle had a door window broken, and that the vehicle had been entered and several items stolen.
Among the missing items were a backpack with school books, assorted clothing and makeup supplies, face plate for a CD player and a wallet with personal identification and a debit card, according to Ptl. Josh McCollum's report.
Witnesses told police they saw suspects traveling in a 1996 black Honda with shirt covering the license plate commit the break-in and then leave the scene.
A description of the vehicle involved was broadcast to local police agencies and Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Williams stopped the vehicle on Hwy. 127 N near the Elite Market.
A consent to search the Honda was granted and police recovered items reportedly stolen in the Cracker Barrel parking lot car burglary.
Items were returned to the owners and the pair were charged.
