Democratic Women host Veteran Appreciation Day

The Cumberland County Democratic Women’s Club on behalf of the local Democratic Party celebrated Veterans Appreciation Day in Crossville by hosting a hotdog luncheon followed by a presentation of a $500 check to Mark Daniels. The money is designated for the Cumberland County Veterans Emergency Fund that had been established by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Daniels said monies like those donated Wednesday are used to pay for gasoline to transport vets to the doctor, for utility bills, food bills and other necessities for local veterans. Crossville Mayor J.H. Graham III proclaimed Wednesday as Veterans Appreciation Day and paid tribute to the 278th, which will be deployed after the first of the year for a second tour in Iraq.
