63 youngsters go school shopping with law enforcement

The Frank Clement Lodge No. 38 of the Fraternal Order of Police, consisting of Crossville and Cumberland County police officers, recently completed a Shop with Cops program. The program helps children less fortunate have a better start to the school year by purchasing clothing and school supplies.

There were 63 children who were able to shop with local law enforcement personnel and their spouses, as kids gathered necessary items to ensure a good start to school. Clothing, shoes, book bags, pencils, pens, crayons and tissue were among the more popular items selected by the children.

Funds to support this endeavor were made possible from a fundraiser held in the late summer and early fall.

"This special program would not have been possible if it were not for the giving heart of citizens of Cumberland County," said Crossville Police Lt. Fred Sherrill. "The members of Frank Clement Lodge No. 38 would like to say a special thank you to all those who contributed to such a worthy investment and hopes of bigger and brighter futures for years to come."
