An altercation Wednesday afternoon ended with three people transported to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment and three individuals facing assault charges.
Joshua Matthew Norton, 24, of 92 Benefit Rd., was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after witnesses said he struck multiple people with his vehicle. Brandon Wagoner, 19, 257 W. First St., was arrested for simple assault, and a warrant was signed charging James Franklin Wagoner, 40, 703 Viola Dr., with simple assault.
Injured in the incident were Annette Pruett, Ishmael Causby and Kristie Garrett. They were transported to CMC for injuries.
According to the report by Crossville Police Officer Jonathan O'Neal, the altercation between the Wagoners and Norton began at a West First Street address. The Wagoners said they then went to the Ivy Ave. residence and found Norton there.
Witnesses told officers they saw the two Wagoners throwing rocks at Norton while he was inside his vehicle, and that Norton had left the area and then returned. When he left the last time, witnesses said he sped through Donna Lane, traveling over the curb and grass and back onto the roadway, driving at a high rate of speed toward the crowd of people.
Norton then exited the vehicle and fled on foot to Brenda Lane, where O'Neal later located him.
