CROSSVILLE —
After 42 years of dedicated service at Volunteer Energy Cooperative, Jimmy Elmore has retired. Elmore started his career with VEC back in December of 1969 as an equipment operator and was promoted to stock clerk for the Crossville area after 10 years. The last four years of his employment, he was promoted to general stock clerk for the north end of the system. This included Crossville, Monterey, Jamestown and Byrdstown.
Bobby Randolph, area manager, says, “Elmore was a very dedicated employee and a valuable asset to Volunteer Energy. He was always available for catching trouble calls. He will be greatly missed by everyone.”
When asked about his most memorable experiences during his long tenure at VEC, Elmore states, ”I have numerous but the ones that stand out the most are working the blizzard of ’74, the ice storm of ’93 and the most recent string of tornadoes that have occurred. It’s very rewarding to help participate in restoring the power in the aftermath of these disasters."
Randolph states, “We all wish Jim the best in his retirement.”
