Crossville Police are looking for a brazen bandit who entered a local pharmacy in broad daylight and disappeared into the morning traffic Tuesday with a bag full of prescription pain killers, according to police reports.
The incident occurred at Rite Aid pharmacy on N. Main St. at Elmore Rd. around 9:05 a.m., according to Crossville Police Maj. Mark Rosser's report.
The lone bandit, described as a male around five-feet, five-inches tall, slim build wearing a grey zip-up hoodie, blue jeans and baseball cap, entered the store and walked to the rear of the building where the pharmacy is located.
The man's face was wrapped in surgical gauze with only eyes exposed.
The man stood at the counter and when a store employee asked if he needed help, he slipped a note across the counter that demanded narcotics. While no weapon was displayed during the incident, it was implied to the employee that the man was armed. He kept one hand concealed while making threats to the employee.
The assailant was given an undetermined amount of narcotics from the pharmacy and then quietly left the store.
Witnesses said the man fled in a dark grey Toyota or Honda, leaving the Rite Aid parking lot and circling Burger King before turning north on Hwy. 127 N.
Further investigation has led police to change the description of the getaway vehicle to a late model, dark grey Pontiac Vibe. Investigation into the incident is continuing.
