A house fire Thursday sent a mother and her toddler son into the night to escape flames that left their home damaged, according to the Cumberland County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to Walker Rd. off Newton Rd. around 8:15 p.m. to the Paul and Phyllis Davidson residence after a fire started in a utility room. It is believed the fire started around a dryer.
Phyllis Davidson and her two-year-old son escaped from the house and were uninjured. The husband was not at home at the time the fire broke out.
The fire destroyed the utility room and damaged other portions of the house. The Cumberland County Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the scene.
