Fire rips through trailer
Monday morning on Timberland Road a '73-model trailer was heavily damaged by fire. According to Cumberland County Fire Department Assistant Chief Bobby Derosett, the trailer was used as a sewing factory. The fire started after one of the owners left the trailer to walk to her home across the driveway after turning on the lights in the building. The official cause of the fire has not been named, but Derosett said it was probably electrical. Firefighters were able to black out the fire within five minutes.

A Monterey man made his first appearance in Cumberland County General Sessions Court last Monday to answer a felony charge relating to a domestic assault that took place Aug. 15 during which a car was allegedly used as a weapon, a knife was pulled by the victim and both sides accused the other of being the aggressor.
