Factory blaze injures firefighter
Tuesday morning Cumberland County and Crossville City firefighters responded to a call at the Durable Products plant, on Highland Street off West Ave. Crossville Fire Chief Mike Turner said that according to witnesses, the fire began in a paint booth when the heaters caught fire. The fire grew large very rapidly. Durable employees evacuated immediately as several crews, both county and city, came in to tend to the fire. During the incident, Crossville firefighter Junior Cooper was injured, possibly breaking an ankle, when something fell on top of him, according to Turner. Firefighters had the situation under control shortly after 11 a.m.

Felony charges filed in domestic assault
A Monterey man made his first appearance in Cumberland County General Sessions Court last Monday to answer a felony charge relating to a domestic assault that took place Aug. 15 during which a car was allegedly used as a weapon, a knife was pulled by the victim and both sides accused the other of being the aggressor.
