Mildred “Millie” Callaway has been named regional development specialist with TVA’s economic development staff for the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
Callaway will support TVA power distributor customers, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth in a 16-county area.
Counties in the in Upper Cumberland Region are Bledsoe, Cannon, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Sequatchie, Smith, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren and White.
Her responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, providing financial and technical services, and helping communities support and expand existing businesses.
Callaway previously served as a jobs development specialist in the Chattanooga regional office for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, where she worked to recruit and expand the existing business base for a 15-county area. She also served as a point person for Tennessee’s Business Enterprise Resource Office.
“Millie Callaway brings state economic and community development client-focused experience and enthusiastic energy to our team,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley.
Callaway has a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
TVA, working with distributors of TVA power, valley communities, and regional and state economic development partners, helped retain or attract almost 42,000 jobs in fiscal year 2008 and leveraged investments of $5.5 billion in the region during the same period. Lemert grave site rededication set Monday
The restoration of the gravesite of 1st Sgt. Milo Lemert, Cumberland County's only WWI Medal of Honor recipient, is finally complete after months of repair and rebuilding. THP to enforce seat belt usage this Memorial Day weekend
