Crossville Thunder selling fireworks to help pay for national tournament bid

Crossville Thunder, a local girls’ travel basketball program, is operating a fireworks tent at the Cumberland Plaza on Main Street in Crossville (across from Krystal/Baskin Robbins) in an effort to raise money to pay for a recent bid they received to play in the AAU National Tournament in Hampton, VA, later this month. The fireworks tent is Crossville Thunder’s largest fundraiser of the year.  Crossville Thunder is a not-for-profit organization that relies on parent donations, fundraisers and corporate sponsorships to fund the many costs associated with running a large basketball program.

In 2009, Crossville Thunder fielded teams in four age groups — 11 and under; 12 and under; 13 and under; and 14 and under. All four teams were very competitive. The 11 and under team finished its season 18-10 with a third-place finish in the YBOA State Tournament. The 12 and under team finished the season very strong with a record of 21–8 and second-place trophy in the YBOA State Tourney. The 13 and under team had a great year as well, finishing the season with some impressive wins.

The 14 and under team finished the year 22-5 and won the AAU D2 state championship in May. This qualified them for a bid to the AAU D2 National Championship later in July. The 14U team has been conditioning and preparing to finish strong in the national tournament and needs your support to accomplish their goals.

All profits from the operation of the Crossville Thunder Fireworks Tent go to the players and to cover costs of uniforms, shoes, basketballs/equipment, tournament entry fees, non-parent coaches' expenses, and will specifically be used to provide housing, food and travel costs for players and chaperones to the AAU National Tournament.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring the team, please visit the Web site at www.crossvillethunder.com.

Crossville Thunder would like to thank its sponsors:  Crossville Wholesale Carpet, Good Ole Rocky Top Realty, Jerry’s Custom Painting, Dave’s Pawn Shop, Kemmer Farms, Swallows Produce, Flowers Foods, Highland Federal, and Crossville, Inc.
