CROSSVILLE —
The SMHS Lady Panthers evened their record at 1-1 with a 74-43 victory over Rockwood in a TSSAA Hall of Fame contest Friday night at SMHS. Also, the Panthers defeated McCallie 80-68 Friday night for their second victory in the Hall of Fame season.
SMHS 74, Rockwood 43: SMHS led 17-3 after the first quarter and stretched the lead to 38-16 at the break. The Lady Panthers outscored RHS 23-14 in the third quarter for a 61-30 lead; however, both teams finished the game with 13 points to make the final score 74-43.
Jacki Livesay led the way with 13 points, one rebound, one assist and four steals, followed by Kirsten Potter (12 points, seven rebounds, one assist, three steals), Abby Griffin (12 points, two rebounds, two steals), Faith VanRuden (10 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals) and Courtney White (10 markers, two rebounds, one assist, three steals). Rounding out the scoring were Bailey Rutledge (three points, one rebound), Sydney Early (nine points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal), Kerigan Smith (three rebounds, two assists), Jordan Thompson (one rebound), Lacey Melton (three rebounds) and Riley Hunt (three rebounds).
Correction
Information about Kaycee Phipps was left out of the Lady Panther preview story which ran in the Winter Sports Preview. Here is that information:
Phipps is a 5'6' freshmen guard.
"Kaycee is a committed player that continues to improve her offensive skill each day and that will be a contributor on our junior varsity this year," said Coach John Walker.
Schedule
After traveling to Clarkrange Monday night, SMHS will travel in different directions over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Lady Panthers will play Knox Fulton tonight at 7:15 in the Knox Central Thanksgiving Classic, and continue play Friday, against either Knox Central or Dobyns-Bennett at noon or 6:30 p.m. The classic concludes on Saturday.
After beating McCallie Friday night, the Panthers will play in the Siegel Thanksgiving Tournament Friday and Saturday in Murfreesboro. No stats were available at press time Monday from Friday's win over McCallie.

Annual fishing derby to hook anglers June 8
The 13th fishing derby for ages 5-15 will be Saturday, June 8, at Meadow Park Lake. The annual event held every year on "Free Fishing Day" is hosted by the city of Crossville, Veola Water, TWRA and many other sponsors.

Hutson, Kington to continue track careers on collegiate level
Last Wednesday morning, Stone Memorial High School track team members Rachel Hutson and Makayla Kington signed their National Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics for the 2013-'14 school year.
