CROSSVILLE —
The Mike Steinmann/Salvation Army Golf Tournament and Fish Fry will be Aug. 10 at at the Lake Tansi Golf Course.
Proceeds will support the Salvation Army's two most important projects — provide assistance for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect by their parents, and to aid Cumberland County's armed forces veterans in need.
The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $65 per person or $260 per team by the entry deadline of Aug. 3.
Prizes include a $500 Visa gift card, a $50 Calloway gift card for closest to the pin on all par 3's, choice for a Nike driver or set of irons, a Bose home sound system and one prize each for a man and woman for longest drive.
There is a $15,000 cash prize for a hole-in-on supported by Thrivent Financial, while Tabors is offering a "Duffer's special of $1,000 for a hole-in-one on any par 3 during the tournament.
Mulligans can be purchased for $5.
Hole sponsorships are available for $100 each, which includes recognizaation on a nice sponsor sign on the golf course at the hole of your choice and on the big banner located at the pavilion at Lake Tansi.
There is a putting contest at 11 a.m., with one prize for men and one prize for women.

Stone Memorial High School's Jacob Simmons has qualified for the Class A/AA state track and field competition at the TSSAA Spring Fling this week at MTSU with a second-place finish in the one-mile run.

Petersen wins silver medal at Junior Olympics
Stone Memorial High School junior Seth Petersen won the silver medal with a 114X125 for a second-place finish at the Tennessee Junior Olympic Championships held at the Holly Fork Shooting Complex in Paris, TN May 5-6. Seven other Clay Crushers from the scholastic clay target program joined Petersen to gain more experience in Olympic trap shooting.

CCHS qualifies 10 track and field athletes for state meet
On Tuesday, the CCHS track team competed in the Region 2 finals at Riverdale High School with a chance to qualify for the state meet next week at MTSU, and both squads did the best in school history, according to Coach Ted McCaslin.
