CROSSVILLE —
On June 23, the Middle Tennessee Isshinryu Karate Games were held at the Watertown High School near Lebanon.
This was a well run tournament with a great turnout of participants, the competition was very strong.
Marty Robbins (student of Art Palmer's School of Isshinryu Karate), a fifth degree black belt and professional boxer, performed and won all the major titles in his division.
All black belts, in all divisions, who earn first place in their division are then eligible to compete in the grand championship.
Not only did he win first place in light weight black belt fighting, first place in black belt kata, first place in black belt weapons and first place in team fighting, but he also won overall grand champion in fighting and over all grand champion in kata.

The 25th annual Jessie Thornton Battle of Champions was June 9 in Ringgold, GA. Ben Gibon, left, and Marty Robbins, two local black belts from Art Palmer's School of Isshinryu Karate, competed and performed well. Gibson, a third degree black belt, placed third in light heavyweight fighting and fourth in kata. Robbins, a fifth degree black belt, placed second in lightweight fighting, first in continuous fighting and first in kata.

The Stone Memorial High School Lady Panthers will be hosting the 2013 Lady Panther basketball camp for girls in grades two through eight, July 15-17, from 9 a.m. to noon in the SMHS gym.

Annual fishing derby to hook anglers June 8
The 13th fishing derby for ages 5-15 will be Saturday, June 8, at Meadow Park Lake. The annual event held every year on "Free Fishing Day" is hosted by the city of Crossville, Veola Water, TWRA and many other sponsors.

CCHS soccer team closes season with banquet
"I have learned a lot from these guys. They played through a ton of injuries," said Cumberland County Jet soccer coach Cub Whitson Sunday evening at the team's annual banquet held in the CCHS wrestling complex. "Thank you for playing this year."

Hutson, Kington to continue track careers on collegiate level
Last Wednesday morning, Stone Memorial High School track team members Rachel Hutson and Makayla Kington signed their National Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics for the 2013-'14 school year.
Hutson will be going to Carson Newman College to compete for the Lady Eagles cross country and track team,s while fellow senior Makayla Kington will be going to Tennessee Tech to throw for Crossville native Tony Cox. - Tryouts for Lady Jets volleyball team set

On May 14, the Lady Panthers and Panthers of Stone Memorial High School returned to CAK to compete in sectional track action verses some the best competition in A-AA.
