Goss is CCHS’ Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee

CROSSVILLE — Cumberland County High School student Kaleb Goss has been honored as the school winner for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.

The program, awarded in conjuction with the collegiate Heisman, celebrates the achievements of the nation's top high school seniors both in and out of the classroom.

The Wendy's High School Heisman Award celebrates high school seniors across the country who excel in academics, athletics, and community leadership. Since the program's inception in 1994, more than 353,000 students have been recognized by the program fro their outstanding achievements both on and off the field.

The Wendy's High School Heisman program is a stepping stone towards high achievements, and with college admissions growing more selective, a national award of this caliber can help students stand out.

Goss was a captain for the Cumberland County High School football team this season. In addition to playing football for the past four years, he has chosen challenging classes, along with career and technical electives in the health science curriculum.

He has successfully balanced academics, athletics and service organizations. He has been a parish volunteer and has participated in the job shadowing program. In his spare time, he is an avid hunter and fisherman.

Kaleb is the son of Kelly and Wade Goss, and joins Landon LaSalle, Paige Chappell, Justin Kerley and Katie Stone as CCHS past honorees.
