Lady Panthers fall to Knox Fulton

CROSSVILLE — The SMHS Lady Panthers were defeated 78-52 by Knox Fulton in the opening round of the Central High School Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday night at Knox Central, and will play either host Knox Central or Dobyns-Bennett Friday at noon.

The tournament concludes on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers trailed 38-19 at the half, with Fulton outscoring them 40-33 in the second half to take the victory.

Leading the way for SMHS were Tiffany Cokkinias (two rebounds, one assist), Kerigan Smith, Jordan Thompson (three points, one rebound), Emily Bryant (two points, one rebound, three steals), Jacki Livesay (11 points, one rebound, one assist, two steals), Faith Van Ruden (four points, five rebounds, two steals), Abby Griffin (nine points, one steal), Bailey Rutledge (one point, one rebound, one assist), Courtney White (eight points, three rebounds, one assist, five steals), Sydney Early (nine points, four rebounds, one assist), Mikayla Kington (one point, one rebound), Kirsten Potter (four points, six rebounds, three assists), Riley Hunt and Lacey Melton (one steal).

Schedule: Neil Capps'  Panthers (2-1) will be playing Chattanooga Tyner Friday in the Bojangles Classic at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro and then take on Maplewood Saturday.

SMHS will return home Tuesday night to face Livingston, beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the girls junior varsity.
