Elementary JV Basketball season begins


The Cumberland County elementary junior varsity basketball season opened Thursday night with four double-headers - Stone at Brown, Homestead at South, Pleasant Hill at North and Crab Orchard at Martin.

Stone at Brown

Stone 46, Brown 27: Thomas Zazzaro tallied 17 points to lead the Stone Coyote junior varsity over the Brown Bears Thursday night.

Cade Smith led Brown with 18 markers.

Brown 18, Stone 6: Paula Carter tallied six points to lead the Lady Bears over the Lady Coyotes.

Morgan Graham and Darlene Fillalobo had two points each for the Lady Coyotes.

Sexton and Baucum led Homestead with four markers apiece.

South 56, Homestead 13: The Lady Rebels were led by Mackenzie Iles with 19 points. Rounding out the scoring were Klaire Varney (6), Alli Hyder (6), Sydney Clark (6), Gracee Dishman (4), Tesa Johnson (4), Madison McLaughlin (4), Maddison Potter (3), Courtney Smith (2) and Kelsie Bolles (2).

Iles, Jordyn Wilson and Caitlyn Reed were the leading rebounders.

Kelsie Eldridge and Sarah Evans led Homestead with four points each, followed by Megan Findley (2), Samantha Hassler (2) and Sarah Cain (1).
