The Cumberland County High School baseball booster club was the big winner, as 47 teams participated in a benefit golf tournament on Oct. 25 at the Heatherhurst Golf Course.
Thirty-four of the teams played on the Brae Course, with that portion of the tournament being flighted after play, while the couples tournament was pre-flighted.
"I would like to thank the local individuals and businesses for their immediate and enthusiastic support for the CCHS baseball golf tournament — Rheta Roberts with Plateau Insurance, Bill Startup with Cumberland County Bank, Billy Loggins with the city of Crossville and Greg Wyatt with Golf Capital Learning Center and Art Gernt with Art Gernt Insurance. The golf courses sponsored closest to holes were Deer Creek, Lake Tansi, River Run, RiverWatch, Gaylord Springs, Cookeville Country Club, Oak Ridge Country Club and Fairfield Glade Community Club. Everyone from the players to the sponsors made this a great success. The CCHS baseball team would like to thank everyone for their efforts," said Jeff Houston, Heatherhurst golf professional.
Kelvin Selvig, Tim Sweborg, Sam Edwards and Al Bonn won the first flight with an 18-under-par 54, with second going to Dave St. Albun, Jim Finley, Paul Davis and Derek Granfield (55).
Earnie Brown, Roscoe Freeman, Wayne Freeman and Tony Brock won third place over Jeremy Jones, Brad Davis, Eric Brady and Brandon Fehr; and Chet Weeks, Bob Hunt, Dean Creech and Bob Hunt. All three finished with 57s.
Chuck Northram, Barb Northram, Bob Laney and Kerry Laney won the couples flight with a 13-under-59, followed by Jerry Dumbald, Jack Olsen, Judy Olsen and Dale McCuun (61) and Sid Miller, Jeani Miller, Mark Carle and Sue Carli (62).
