The Cumberland County High School swim team participated in the second Division I East meet in Gallatin on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Newcomers to the team, seniors Ryan Ashburn and James Ashburn, both swam the 50 free and 100 free for the Jets. Sean LaChance swam the 100 free and dropped 0.52 seconds off his 200 free for a time of 2:10.78.
Kyle Presson placed sixth in the 50 free with a time of 26.70 and placed first in the 500 free with a regional time of 5:46.88. Sophomore Joel Ilgenfritz swam the 50 free in 31.86 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.23 and freshman Lee Presson dropped 1.11 seconds in his 100 breast race, as well as swimming the 100 free in 1:12.24.
The boys 200 freestyle relay team dropped 3.18 seconds and placed third, with LaChance swimming the first leg, Lee Presson the second, Ilgenfritz the third and Kyle Presson as the anchor.
The girls team had an impressive showing with Sadie Shadden swimming the 50 free and dropping 1.01 seconds in the 100 back. Rebecca Monday swam the 50 free in 31.82 and droppped 3.94 seconds in the 100 breaststroke race.
Korinthya Smith swam the 50 free and 100 free, and Abigayle Clafllin swam the 50 free and 100 free.
Vanessa Hofbauer dropped 1.24 seconds in her 50 free and 7.51 seconds for a personal best time in the 100 breast.
The girls 200 free relay team swam a personal best time of 2:22.55, dropping 3.84 seconds.
Hofbauer was the lead-off position, with Shadden in the second leg, Claflin in the third leg and Monday in the anchor leg.
CCHS' third Division I meet will be in Lebanon, TN, at the Jimmy Floyd Center on Nov. 14.
