Jet freshmen lose to White County, Cookeville in District 6AAA play
The Cumberland County High School Jet freshmen basketball team dropped a pair of games over the last week, a 67-38 decision at White County Monday and a 48-27 setback to Cookeville last Thursday at CCHS.
White County 67, CCHS 38: "We were completely dominated by a very solid Sparta team tonight. We simply did not do a good job defensively and gave up too many baskets off of turnovers early in the game. We will have to turn up the intensity if we are going to get back to the way we should be playing," said Coach Blaine Moore, whose team fell to 1-2 in the District 6AAA freshmen standings.
Gary Frady and Spencer Scarbrough led the Jets wih six points apiece, while Frady led the team with six boards.
Scoring summary
CCHS (38): Bedgood 3, Young 0, Lee 5, Talford 5, Elmore 2, Houston 5, Richards 3, Brown 0, Frady 6, Scarbrough 6, Miller 0, Radford 3.
White County (67): Davidson 12, Wilkerson 14, Young 15, Bohannon 9, Turner 0, Bennett 0, C. Young 6.
Cookeville 48, CCHS 27: "Tonight we were outplayed in every aspect of the game. We shot about 25-26 percent from the floor, and gave up enough offensive rebounds that would have made a difference in the score and enough turnovers that it also would have made a difference in the outcome of the game," said Moore.
Taylor Houston led the Jets with eight points.
Scoring summary
Cookeville (48): Mills 5, Oliphant 2, Dixon 2, Case 16, Henderson 4, McDurmut 11, Henderson 11, Campbell 6.
