CROSSVILLE —
Knights of Columbus Council 8152 held their 19th annual Charity Golf Tournament Wednesday, June 15, at The Bear Trace Golf Course. The annual golf Tournament started off with high hopes that the rain would clear, but no luck. Heavy rains in the Crossville area forced the cancellation of the golf portion of the tournament.
The 34 teams who came out to support the many charities the Knights of Columbus promote in Cumberland County found themselves off to the Knights of Columbus Hall, Hwy. 70, for the distribution of door prizes, along with individual and team awards, plus a delicious dinner from Big Boy’s Barbeque.
The tournament committee developed a plan to fairly disperse the $1500 prize fund to the tournament teams.
The decision was to divide the $1,500 into 15, $100 awards.
A random selection was done by the tournament chairmen and Bear Trace staff with the following teams being selected: Nelson Brown, Ed Day, Ralph Rupp and John Brey; Jim Cannon, Jerry Weber, Bernie LaFrancois and Tony Ziino; Medard Kaluska, Bob Olds, Bob Barth and Ron Lemieux.

Stone Memorial High School's Jacob Simmons has qualified for the Class A/AA state track and field competition at the TSSAA Spring Fling this week at MTSU with a second-place finish in the one-mile run.

Before several athletes headed to the Class AAA Track and Field competition at the TSSAA Spring Fling this week at MTSU, CCHS treated the athletes to a cookout at the pavillion next to the Thunderbird Recreation Center at Lake Tansi Sunday afternoon.

Petersen wins silver medal at Junior Olympics
Stone Memorial High School junior Seth Petersen won the silver medal with a 114X125 for a second-place finish at the Tennessee Junior Olympic Championships held at the Holly Fork Shooting Complex in Paris, TN May 5-6. Seven other Clay Crushers from the scholastic clay target program joined Petersen to gain more experience in Olympic trap shooting.

CCHS qualifies 10 track and field athletes for state meet
On Tuesday, the CCHS track team competed in the Region 2 finals at Riverdale High School with a chance to qualify for the state meet next week at MTSU, and both squads did the best in school history, according to Coach Ted McCaslin.
