CROSSVILLE —
The first champion blazers from the Susan G. Komen Golf Capital Classic are Jeff Dyer and Jason Sitton, shooting a 61 to win the tournament.
Team Cancun, with Pancho Fuentes and Francisco "Tony" Fuentes, took second place with a 65 and Dr. David McKinney and Justin Fisher finished third in a scorecard playoff with a 66.
In the second flight, a scorecard playoff determined the winners, with George Regitko and Jimmy Dickinson in first, Tony Whittenburg and Heath Swallows in second and Eddie Cook and Jaime Cook taking third. All teams in the second flight shot a 72.
A scorecard playoff was also used to determine the winners in the third flight, with all the top three teams scoring a 74. Herb Keylon and Jimmy Bledsoe took first place. Kerrey Houston and Rosco Houston placed second and Wayne Brown and James Stewart were third.
The two-man scramble held Sept. 29 at Bear Trace Golf Course also included prizes for accuracy drive, long drive for men and women and closest to the pin. Heath Swallows won the accuracy drive after landing his ball on the line. Justin Fisher was the winner of the men's long drive and Leslie Price had the women's long drive. Closest to the pin was James Stewart on no. 14 and Kyle Turner on no. 16.
Fisher also won the putting contest, winning a Scotty Cameron putter.
"Thanks to our golfers and sponsors, this first tournament will be able to provide about 250 free mammograms for women in this area," said Marty Lewis, tournament director.
"Without our committee members, or the help and support of Komen Upper Cumberland, we could not have accomplished what we were able to do this year," Lewis said. "Next year, we are already planning some great events and some changes to the tournament to make it more enjoyable for the golfers and raise more money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure."

Annual fishing derby to hook anglers June 8
The 13th fishing derby for ages 5-15 will be Saturday, June 8, at Meadow Park Lake. The annual event held every year on "Free Fishing Day" is hosted by the city of Crossville, Veola Water, TWRA and many other sponsors.

Last Wednesday morning, Stone Memorial High School track team members Rachel Hutson and Makayla Kington signed their National Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics for the 2013-'14 school year.
