Jets finish season with 3-3-2 record

The CCHS Jets golf team closed out the regular season on Monday with a district match against Cleveland and McMinn County.  The match was held at Springbrook in Niota, TN.

Cleveland came out on top with a 160.  CCHS and MCHS tied with a 163.

Patric Allred led the CCHS with a solid 39.  Jonathan Masters shot a 40, Cody King 41 and John Sutton 43.  Other CCHS scores were Bo Davis and Brandon Fehr with a pair of 44s.

"Like I've said all year long, after Walker Valley, the district is wide open.  It is a matter of posting four soild scores next Monday," stated Randy Herring.

The Jets are trying to qualify as a team for the region tournament that CCHS will host at Bear Trace on Sept. 27. The Jets finished 3-3-2 in district play.

Lady Jets finish regular season 7-3 and 7-1 in district play

In their final regular season match, the Lady Jets defeated the McMinn County Lady Cherokees and the Walker Valley Lady Mustangs at Springbrook.

Team scores were 93, 108, and 101. The individual medalist was Kyleigh Barringer of Cleveland with a 44, while Stormi Henley shot a 45.

Cumberland County's other scorers of the day were Jessica Barnwell with a 48 and a 62 contributed by Liz Christ.

The girls finish the shortened season with a 7-3 record overall and a 7-1 record in district play.

"The match today was good preparation for the District Tournament to be held next week also at Springbrook. Our only district loss was to a strong but young Walker Valley team. As Stormi and Jessica wind down their senior season, I hope their experience can help them come through with strong finishes in tournament play,"  said Coach Kim Herring.
