The 2008 Relay for Life was held Friday night at the fairgrounds. The theme was "Once upon a time ... there was a cure." Over 120 survivors registered. This year's fundraising goal was $185,000, up from last year's $177,000.

The Fairfield Glade Community Club (FGCC) passed another milestone on Monday. The $6.5 million Community and Conference Center was opened to great fanfare as dignitaries such as U.S. Congressman Lincoln Davis, state Representative Eric Swafford, Crossville Mayor J.H. Graham, and many others joined the FGCC board of directors at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Youth Expo 2008, sponsored by Cumberland Artists for Creative Expression, was April 12 at the Community Complex. Children of all ages had hands-on experience in various arts and crafts.
