CROSSVILLE — May 8, 1917—Oct. 9, 2012

Roy Harry Lanz, 95, of Crossville, passed away Oct. 9, 2012. Funeral services will be today, Oct. 12, at Oak Hill Baptist Church, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. to the time of service. Dr. Jim Mersereau will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He was born May 8, 1917, in Bon Aqua, TN, to the late Aldoph and Matilda Jensen Lanz. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the United States Air Force. Following his military career, he worked as an electronics and radar technician. He and his wife, the former Teresa June Adams, moved to Cumberland County in 1973, and are members of Oak Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his wife, Teresa, he is survived by daughters, Janet Diane Masters and husband, Mike, of Raleigh, NC, and Melissa Kathleen Lanz, of Franklin, TN; brothers, Warren Lanz and wife, Barbara, of Enterprise, AL, and Dr. Elwin Lanz and wife, Noreen, of Goodletsville, TN; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Lanz, of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alwyn R. Lanz, and sisters, Myrtle Jackson, Gladys Beck, June Cook and Dorothy Roberts.

Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
